Although it wasn’t one of my primary reasons for becoming a vegetarian, many people cut out meat for the health benefits alone. My second move focuses on these benefits and new information regarding the common debate when discussing plant-based diets. Eating well is getting harder nowadays, and it reflects through statistics about our country's wellbeing (see below.) However, diseases including cardiovascular disease, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and some cancers can be prevented with a healthy diet, and focusing on thwarting these issues before they occur rather than treating them is one of the first steps towards a healthier population. The 2015 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee recently issued its newest recommendations on what Americans should be eating. For the first time, the committee concluded that a diet higher in plant-based foods and lower in animal-based foods is healthier, which is a huge stick to the meat industry. My move also briefly describe the health benefits that I have experienced. At first there were more negative effects then positive ones, but eventuallyy I got the hang of things and my body thanked me. Properly educating yourself and simply getting into a routine is the key to success in a plant-based diet.
